Known for an innovative approach to music inspired by American and Latin cultures, Latinx rock n ’rollers Making Movies are “breaking down walls in the U.S.,” according to Rolling Stone. Although much of their time is spent touring globally, Making Movies is always working toward enhancing their hometown, KC.

In 2020, Making Movies evolved its annual CARNAVAL event into Ameri’kana FEST. This event serves as a fundraiser for Art as Mentorship, an arts education organization launched by Making Movies in 2018 that uses songwriting as a tool to develop self-actualization and is dedicated to empowering the next generation of American songwriters.
